1. How many homes are currently open and who do they serve?

Currently, there are three homes, which serve eighteen with mild to severe developmental disabilities. The goal is to provide a permanent residence to adults within the context of a “home-like” atmosphere.

2. What type of work or school activities do the residents engage in?

All adults work outside the home in the local community or in educational or vocational training settings. Several young adults have jobs working at local restaurants, schools, and day care centers.

3. Does Marian Homes have a Board of Directors?

Yes. Marian Homes’ leadership team includes a Board of Directors of up to 12 members. We have five currently serving on our board. Most Board Members have personal experience with individuals with developmental disabilities. Others are professionals in the field of developmental disabilities and representatives of the legal, business and educational community. We welcome professionals in all fields to enhance and propel Marian Homes to future growth.

4. Do you serve only Los Angeles County?

Marian Homes serves all of Southern California. Our headquarters is located in Rowland Heights, California. We currently have two properties in Los Angeles County and one property in Orange County. Marian Homes serves all of Southern California. There are no geographic limits to serving our residents.

5. How are residents selected for the Homes?

Regional Center is our primary referral source. Unfortunately, we do not accept private pay residents however; we may in the future. Please contact Marian Homes for more information.

6. How is the Home staffed?

Our three homes have a full-time certified ARF Administrator and live-in direct care staff during the week. Each home also features various weekend staff providing nearly 24 hour-a-day coverage and care for our residents. A full time Executive Director oversees the staff and the activities at the homes.

7. How is Marian Homes financially supported?

Marian Homes receives financial support from the State of California through the Regional Centers. While state and federal funds cover basic room and board, they do not meet all of the expenses of operating the homes. This year we received 60% of the operating cost of the home itself through funding from Regional Centers. For the additional 40%, we rely on the generosity of individuals and corporations that support our mission through private donations, fundraisers, and membership drives. Organizations such as the Knights of Columbus, and foundations and cities namely ECHO Northrop Grumman, City of Anaheim, Employees Community Fund of Boeing, William H. Hannon Foundation, The Weingardt Foundation, Enterprise Rent-A-Car and the Fred & June Mac Murray Foundation have been instrumental in our success and growth.

8. How much of Marian Homes funds are used for administration?

Approximately 14% of Marian Homes funds are used for general administrative purposes and fund raising. Approximately 86 cents on the dollar goes directly to program services.
